About Meleece

Born and raised in the Rocky Mountains, Meleece graduated with a Masters in Music from Brigham Young University, but there was always a book on her music stand.

She won a National Endowment for the Arts Writing Award where her memoir Water Stories was published.

She now lives in Minnesota with her best friend, their four children, and two baby dragons.

Fun facts

• The baby dragons are real. They are very quiet while Meleece is writing.

  

• She trained as a classical musician, so her characters tend to arrive with their own soundtracks. Every book gets a playlist.

  

• Her desert island series and movies are The Crown, Crash Landing on You, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Sabrina (1995), and Sense and Sensibility (1995, a good year).

  

• Her favorite writers are Martine Leavitt, Jane Austen, Sue Monk Kidd, Shannon Hale, Sigrid Undset, and John Mulaney.
